Carter Bank & Trust’s Cookie Policy

When you visit websites, they may store or retrieve information on your browser mostly in the form of cookies. Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which can be downloaded to your device when visiting websites. They help improve your browsing experience and enable certain website functions.

Carter collects very minimal, consent-based analytics and advertising data through cookies for performance measurement, site optimization, and digital advertising effectiveness such as anonymous data related to pages views and actions taken (clicks, scroll, form submit) but do not log any personal identifying information related to those actions, including not tracking or logging IP address.

Children's Privacy: Our online services are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under the age of 13, or such other age as may be stipulated by applicable law.

All cookies on our website are governed through a consent management platform, Google Tag Manager controls. The Cookie Consent Vendor stores only user preferences based on a cookie that gets assigned at first visit and requires reconsent after 12 month or if cookies are cleared by the user. There is no personal identifying information stored by the Cookie Consent Platform, including tracking or logging of IP addresses.

All cookies are grouped as either session cookies or persistent cookies as defined below:

  • Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies used during the duration of time the webpage is open. This maintains login status, data on a form, and any actions taken during the duration of time the browser is opened. Once the browser is closed out the session cookies have ended and any unsaved actions will be erased.
  • Persistent Cookies: Unlike session cookies these remain active regardless of closing down the browser. Persistent cookies are mainly used for tracking behaviors, storing login information, and saving preferences that were saved for the website. For instance, when logging in the “remember me” text is a persistent cookie.

We provide users the option to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or manage their cookie settings directly. You can accept functional cookies, targeting cookies, or performance cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are not able to be turned off.

  • Analytics: Analytics cookies or performance cookies track website visitors and their user behavior. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. The data is then used to improve the website’s functionality and, in turn, user experience. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous.
  • Targeted Advertising Cookies: These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. We may set cookies or other trackers for this purpose.
  • Essential Cookies: These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
